PS5 release date news alongside Microsoft’s Xbox Scorpio at E3 2017?

A PS5 release date announcement to counterbalance the Xbox Scorpio seems doubtful

The tech giant have been celebrating new figures that show a total of 70m monthly active users and 26.4 million PS Plus-paying members.

That’s on top of Sony’s gaming division recently reporting profits of £944 million, the biggest since 1998.

But with the Xbox Scorpio on the horizon, there have been predictions made that a possible PS5 release date announcement could arrive sooner rather than later.

Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong predicts Sony “to release its next-generation PlayStation by the second half of 2018,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

The claim isn’t naming the new console as the PS5 and isn’t necessarily based on any kind of insider information, but it should be noted that Thong correctly predicted both the PS4 Pro and Slim before their announcements.
