Here are the 7 best movies on TV this Sunday

Sunday. We made it!

That’s right, the weekend just keeps on going.

And with it, the choices of cinematic encounters on the box.

Kick back, relax and enjoy one of the following on this Sunday 28 October…

The Princess Bride – Film 4 – 6.55pm

A bona fide classic. Just watch it.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl – Comedy Central – 8pm

Not quite a classic, but fun nonetheless.

Deepwater Horizon – Channel 4 – 9pm

The director/actor marriage that is Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg tell the true story of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010.

There’s some kitchen sink drama stuff with Wahlberg and his wife Kate Hudson, a frankly ludicrous attempt at a Southern accent by John Malkovich and some exceptional facial hair from Kurt Russell, but this is all about Berg depicting a disaster in loud, intense and quite scary fashion.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice – RTÉ 2 – 9pm

A genuine classic of the ‘bad movie’ form here as Ben Affleck bulks up to step into the cowl of the most psychotic Batman ever placed on the silver screen.

Henry Cavill does his best opposite him but nobody is getting in between Batfleck and his blood-soaked path of justice.

So yeah, another one of those ‘you need to see this in order to laugh about it afterwards’ movies.

The Boy Next Door – Virgin Media One – 9pm

Yet more trash in the form of a movie in which Jennifer Lopez is given a first edition copy of The Iliad by an apparently highly resourceful young admirer.

Remember those sleazy 90s movies you weren’t allowed watch as a youngster? So do the filmmakers of The Boy Next Door.

Kingsman: The Secret Service – Film 4 – 9pm

Worth flicking over for that scene in the church.

Unstoppable – SyFy – 10.10pm

For his final film, the late Tony Scott puts Denzel Washington and Chris Pine on an out of control train, ramps up the visual filters and enjoys the ride.
