Nubia Red Magic 3 leaks, will come with gaming PC-inspired aero cooling system

Nubia Red Magic 3

Nubia may have been grabbing attention all over the world with its Alpha flexible smartwatch. However, the company has been working on the successor to its Red Magic Mars gaming smartphones. Leaks and rumours have so far given us an idea that this will possibly be the most powerful smartphone with the Snapdragon 855 chipset and will come with an industry-first cooling system. Now, there’s a new leaked photo that confirms some of these rumours.

The leaked photo of the alleged Red Magic 3 shows the device inside a glass enclosure and looks like an evolution of the previous Red Magic gaming smartphones. The familiar crossbow-style design with a centrally positioned LED lighting still exists. However, instead of the sleek metallic body from the previous phones, the new model takes on an armoured look with a bulky body. The design looks inspired from the Xiaomi BlackShark 2 to an extent.

However, the bulk maybe there for one reason – the air cooling system, the device has an air vent under the camera module, suggesting that the rumours of a fan-based aero cooling system are true. This will be the first smartphone to feature an aero cooling system. Rumours suggest that combined with the liquid cooling system, the Red Magic 3 could deliver sustained peak performance by keeping the temperatures low.

Unfortunately, the leak doesn’t show the front of the phone. Judging by the trends in the gaming smartphone industry, it is highly likely that Red Magic 3 will come with an 18:8 display with top and bottom bezels.

The leaks have suggested so far that the device will be powered by an overclocked Snapdragon 855 chipset that was able to achieve scores higher than 400,000 in AnTuTu benchmark. This isn’t doubtful as the Red Magic Mars was the most powerful Android phone with the Snapdragon 845 chipset last year. Rumours also suggest a stock-Android interface for the global variants.

The Red Magic 3 is expected to launch in India between May and June. Chances are that Nubia could price closer to the Rs 40,000 mark, which could make it one of the cheapest gaming smartphones in the market. Asus, on the other hand, is rumoured to be working on the ROG Phone 2 which is expected to compete with the premium flagship smartphones in India. Xiaomi is also rumoured to bring the BlackShark 2 to India sometime this year.
